Benjamin Cam Norton (1835-1900) was a British painter specialising in horse and animal portraits, but commonly known for his equestrian subjects. Born in Sheffield he frequently attended the races at Cheltenham, Doncaster, Liverpool and Newmarket and painted portraits of the racehorses and jockeys, which include 'St. Gatien' (bred by Major E. Brace) with jockey Charles Wood at Newmarket, painted in 1885.
