Prosser and Son

T. H. Prosser & Sons was one of the oldest English sporting companies. Established in 1857 at 548 Hollway Road in London. In the early days they manufactured real tennis equipment and then later, lawn tennis rackets and presses. Later, according to one of their adverts, 'Rackets and Balls, Lawn Tennis, Lawn Tennis Balls, Fives Bats, Fives Balls, Racket Presses, Tennis Bats, Balls, Racket Shoes, Archery, Tennis Shoes, Cricket Bats, Ball, Stumps, etc.'. In 1891 some of their tennis racket models were called 'Springlight', 'Dorothy' and the 'Ivanhoe'. They supplied universities such as Oxford & Cambridge and schools, Harrow, Eton, Rugby, Cheltenham, Marlborough, Winchester and Haileybury. They were official makers to Princes Club in Knightsbridge and Queen's Club in West Kensington.
