The Schotten Hickory Challenge 2014

The Schotten Hickory Challenge took place on the 25th July, a very warm and sunny day at Burford Golf Club. Following on from last year's tournament at Garmisch – Partenkirchen we had quite a lot of German competitors.

68 players turned up for the opportunity to sample the simple joys of a bygone era of golf, trying to emulate the likes of Harry Vardon, James Braid, Bobby Jones and Tom Morris. With their smoothest swings to hit their best shots they went around the course armed with Drivers, Brassies, Mid Irons, Mashies, Mashie -Niblicks, Niblicks and Putters, all of which were original hickory-shafted golf clubs.
The participating male and female players dressed to impress in 1920's style outfits. This event was the forth year in aid of the Cotswold charity Kate's Home Nursing, with over £5000 being raised.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their support.

Kate's Home Nursing provide hospice at home nursing care for those in the last stage of illness, filling the gap that the statutory sector cannot and giving respite to the patient's primary carer.

Kate's cover the area between Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Northleach and Burford, in the Cotswolds.
