Spelter Tennis Players, Doherty Twins.
A pair of bronzed Art Deco lawn tennis figures perhaps portraying the Doherty Brothers, Reginald and Lawrence. The figures are made from spelter (a white metal alloy cast in the lost wax process) and are on square bases.
The Doherty brothers were Wimbledon doubles winners in 1897, 98, 99, 1900. 01, 03,04 and 1905.
Reginald Doherty was singles Wimbledon winner in 1897, 98, 99 and 1900.
Lawrence Doherty was Wimbledon winner in 1902, 03, 04, 05 and 1906.
