Parian ware figure of a boy cricketer.
A rare figure of a boy cricketer resting against a tree stump holding a cricket bat. The figure is of a very high quality and with exceptionally good detailing. We have had another parian ware cricket figure, "Young England", before but never this one.
Excellent condition with no repairs.
Parian ware was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons and was essentially designed to imitate carved marble. It is a type of bisque porcelain, prepared in a liquid form and cast in a mould.
