Edwardian British Sports Book, Fifty Leaders Of British Sport.
A first edition (1904) hard bound copy with red cloth cover and gilt title to front and spine, cover also with gilt fox heads and good colour. Spine with gilt sporting motifs and faded. Frontispiece of 'His Majesty King Edward VII', title page 'Fifty Leaders of British Sport, A series of portraits by Ernest C. Elliott (of Elliot and Fry) with biographical notes and a preface by F.G. Aflalo. John Lane The Bodley Head, London & New York, MCMIV'. Printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co. at the Ballantyne Press. As far as we can ascertain all 146 pages are there with the corresponding portraits, slight foxing to edges and creeping onto the pages. Throughout the book there are 50 large format full-page portraits of gentlemen from the sporting world including Tennis, rugby, golf, curling, boxing, cricket, shooting, polo, fencing, lacrosse falconry, fishing & punting.
