A game bird colotype print by Archibald Thorburn, titled 'Summer'. This is a single picture from a set of four called 'The Seasons'. Each season is represented by a bird, Partridge - Spring, Pheasant - Autumn, Grouse - Summer, Black Game - Winter. The framed picture is signed in pencil by the artist and was published by W.F. Embleton (successor to A. Baird-Carter) 70 Jermyn Street, London, 1927, printed in Austria.
There is an old frame dealers paper label on the back of the frame, written in ink 'Spring, Archibald Thorburn, Coloured Artists Proof', but the actual picture in the frame is 'Summer'.
