Royal Doulton Series Ware Golf Collection.
A wonderful collection of thirteen various Royal Doulton 'Series Ware' ceramics with polychrome golf scenes and proverbs, designed by Charles Crombie. A good variety of ceramics with the Royal Doulton trademark and pattern No. D3395. The fantastic collection of vintage golf ceramics could be the perfect gift for the golfing enthusiast, an instant standalone collection or a great foundation for the start of something bigger.
The collection comprises of three jugs at 12 cm high, two bowls 16 cm diameter, one square dish with a wavey edge 21 cm, one round dish with a wavey edge 19 ½ cm diameter and six round plates, one at 26 ½ cm diameter, two at 26 cm, one at 24 cm and two at 21 cm.
The proverbs are:-
"Give Losers Leave To Speak And Winners To Laugh"
"Every Dog has His Day, And Every Man His Hour"
"He Hath A Good Judgment Who Relieth Not Wholly On His Own"
"All Fools Are Not Knaves, But All Knaves Are Fools"
"Promise little And Do Much. He That Always Complains, Is Never Pitied"
Charles 'Chas' Crombie (1885 - 1967) was an illustrator whose work is well known to the collector. His pictures can be found in many forms, on postcards, calendars, in books and on Royal Doulton ceramics.
Royal Doulton Golf Series Ware by Charles Crombie was introduced in 1911 and withdrawn by 1932.
