Oldfield Family Tennis Photograph.
A wonderful black and white photo capturing the essence of a Edwardian tennis club. A charming insight into the leisure time of the Edwardians showing a mixed group of tennis players posing for a team photo. On first appearances it looks like a private tennis court in the grounds of a stately manor but there is another tennis court with net behind the group and a tall catch net around the perimeter of the grounds. This leads us to believe this is either a tennis club or public tennis grounds. The sporting photograph is on the original mount card, written to the reverse is the names of three of the group members, Walter Oldfield is seated in the front row, Edith and Maggie Oldfield are in the row behind in the middle. Typically, in this Edwardian period boaters were worn by men and women. The ladies do have very long skirts but there are no signs of bustles being worn.
Size shown is the photograph, the mount card measures 20 cm high by 25 cm wide.
