Gentleman's 3/16 Pint Silver Plated Hip Flask By James Dixon.
A silver-plated, curved body, spirit hip flask made by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield. The pocket hip flask has the upper portion of the glass flask ornamented in leather with level viewing windows cut into both sides. This hip flask with plain domed hinged lid with screw bayonet fitting and retains the original push fit drinking cup (height 5 1/2 cm), all marked James Dixon & Sons. On one side of the bottleneck can be found JD & S, whilst on the other side is a trumpet. The bottom of the drinking cup marked with Dixon's mark and 3/16 Pt. EPBM, Made in England and 683A. The JD & S is the mark of James Dixon & Sons and the "Trumpet and Banner" mark identifies without doubt it is a Dixon's product. The use of the trumpet is to prevent mistakes with the marks "JD & S" used by another Sheffield manufacturer, James Deakin & Sons.
