Vienna Bronze Dachshund Inkwell

Vienna Bronze Dachshund Inkwell

Sold

Dachshund Bronze Inkwell.
A fabulous early 20th century cold painted Austrian bronze inkwell depicting a sitting Dachshund dog. This charming sausage dog is hinged at the rear of the neck, opening to reveal a compartment for an ink liner (missing). Impressed on the underside "GESCHUTZT" (translated from German, protected). The dachshund is wonderfully painted and has a gold chain-linked collar. Although it is an ink well it works as an ornamental piece as well and is a great gift for any dachshund owner.

The dachshund, also known as the wiener dog, badger dog, or sausage dog, is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. They may be smooth, wire, or long-haired.
