Brady

1887

The first Brady brothers were John and Albert who made gun cases in Birmingham around 1887. John's son (Ernest) and Albert's son (Leonard) both worked in the business but when John died Ernest left the company, later going into business with his uncle Frank in 1928. The Brady's had premises in Shadwell Street in Birmingham's gun quarter but during the war they moved production into Ernest's home. Birmingham was repeatedly bombed during the war and Shadwell Street was to be demolished, forcing the Brady's to relocate. In 1946 Ernest started up in business again in Halesowen, part of the industrial Black Country.
