Antique Wooden Exercise Dumbbell.
A great wooden dumbbell made from Lignum vitae with good patina, light cracking on the wood but in great vintage condition.
"Lignum vitae" is Latin for "wood of life" and is known for its extraordinary combination of strength, toughness, and density. As it is hard and durable it has been used to make lawn bowls, croquet mallets, skittles balls and wood carvers' mallets. It is such a dense wood it will easily sink in water.
