Cricket Bookends. Sporting Antique.
A fine pair of cricket themed bookends. Each oak bookend is decorated with applied beechwood stumps and bails, a wooden cricket bat and ball. We believe these were handmade by Thornton-Smith Company in the 1930's as we have had a pair like this before. That particular pair had a signed makers label beneath one base which read "Guaranteed handmade by Thornton-Smith, Sussex-England". The detail and quality is very good and would be a wonderful addition to a cricket fans bookcase or shelf.
