F.H Ayres Croquet Set On Original Stand
Vintage F. H. Ayres Croquet Set.
A nice quality F. H. Ayres croquet set in its original polished pine box and with an original Ayres croquet stand. The box has a decorative paper trade label to the inside of the lid. The set comes with four box wood croquet mallets stamped 'F.H. Ayres' with octagonal ash handles (which helps a player 'feel' the alignment of the mallet in play). To complete the set there are four balls in the standard croquet colours, six bent metal hoops, four sprung hoop clips to show a player's progress in the game and two 'Kenrick' posts (the coloured bands indicating the order of play). The original Ayres stand will hold the four mallets with the central turning having four wooden cups to hold the balls, it will even unscrew for transport or winter storage. The top on the stand has a place to hang the four sprung clips, a wooden carry handle and is marked on the top 'The International' (registered) No. 495828, F.H. Ayres Ltd, London.
