A John Jaques croquet set in original pine box with four brass bound boxwood mallets. To complete the set there are four coloured balls in the standard croquet colours, six bent metal hoops, one new winning post with four coloured metal spring clips and a Schotten simple summary Croquet rule booklet. The lid has a Jaques paper label on the inside and on the outside it is stencilled 'Jaques Croquet, London' to the lid and on the front, '103' is on one side. The mallets are 37 ¼ inches in length and are stamped Jaques London, made in England'. The mallets with traditional octagonal ash sprung handles to help a player find the correct alignment of a shot and finished with a black and white cord grip. The heads fitted with ebony alignment lines and brass reinforcing rings that add weight whilst helping protect the mallet faces from damage by miss hit shots, the faces are scored with concentric rings that aid the playing of stop shots and follow through roll shots.
