My Wife, My Horse and Myself, Signed Equestrian Print By Alfred Munnings.
A signed lithograph print of Lady Munnings (Violet his second wife) sat side-saddle on a bay horse in the grounds of Castle House where she lived with her husband, Alfred Munnings. Alfred (the artist) can be seen standing on the right of the picture holding a palette and a painting, the painting being a copy of the painting itself. This is one of Munnings famous pictures and is titled 'Our Mutual Friend The Horse' taken from his original painting 'My Wife, My Horse and Myself'. My Wife, My Horse and Myself was first exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1935 and it is understood that Munnings made at least three studies for the painting using different horses stabled at his home, Munnings's own horse, Anarchist, Violet's hunter Master Munn and one called Rufus.

This lithograph has the title 'Our Mutual Friend The Horse, from the painting by Sir Alfred Munnings K.C.V.O., P.P.R.A.' with print details 'Published in 1954 by Frost & Reed Ltd. Fine Art Publishers, Bristol & London, England. Copyright in all countries including the U.S.A (Printed in England)'. There is the artist's signature to the right hand corner and a Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp to lower left.

Munnings first saw Violet McBride in 1919 at Richmond Horse Show and later that same year he asked her to sit for a portrait on a beautiful horse, from there their courtship followed. In 1920, the couple married in a quiet ceremony at Chelsea Registry Office. Munnings was forty-two, Violet was seven years younger.
