Wilkinson Fishing Engraving, Single Handed.
A nicely framed angling picture, signed in pencil by the artist Norman Wilkinson, celebrated British painter and printmaker. The drypoint etching depicting an angler in the middle of the river in waders single handily landing a salmon or trout on his line with a gaff. On the reverse of the original frame is a paper trade label and written in ink 'Norman Wilkinson, "Single Handed", original drypoint'.
A dry point is traditionally done on copper plate, the image is engraved with an etching needle to create an impression of a drawing. When inked the plate can then be printed from again and again to produce an edition of prints.
