Wicker Fishing Creel
Wicker Fishing Creel
Vintage Wicker & Wood Creel.
A very good example of an early wicker pot bellied fishing creel. The creel is made in the traditional design but with a hinged wooden lid with catch, wooden bottom, wooden rim around the top edge of the basket and a canvas and leather shoulder strap.
The creel was an important piece of equipment for the early angler as with the addition of damp moss, lining the bottom of the creel, it would keep the days catch fresh.
