Antique Folding Wooden Backgammon, Chess and Draughts Board.
An attractive folding wooden games board with pieces. The chess or draughts board is on the exterior and is made up of rosewood and satinwood square veneers on mahogany. Once opened and turned over a nice colourful backgammon board is revealed, this is made of inlaid mahogany, rosewood and satinwood triangles. The board comes complete with a full set of chess pieces (no damage) and a full set of backgammon pieces (also no damage). The backgammon pieces (15 dark & 15 light) can also be used for draughts, also known as checkers, as only 12 pieces are used on each side. The chess set comprises of thirty-two pieces, four Knights featuring the head and neck of a horse. Two kings, being the tallest pieces at 6½ cm high, both with a stylised crown topped with a cross whilst the two Queens feature a coronet topped with a tiny ball (6 cm high). The four Rooks are towers (castles) with a crenelation top and the four Bishops with mitres. The sixteen Pawns are the smallest pieces at 3½ cm high and are topped by a plain ball. All the pieces with a collar except the rooks and knights. Both sets of playing pieces come in their own pine wooden storage boxes.
Dimensions of the board when open: 45 ½ cm by 38 cm, 4 ½ cm high.
Chess squares measure 4.3 cm.
