Antique Faux Crocodile Leather Gentleman's Suitcase With Vanity Fittings

Antique Greaves Ltd. Gentleman's Travelling Vanity Suitcase.
A very high-end faux crocodile leather suitcase, the lid opening to reveal an honey coloured pigskin interior lining fitted with an assortment of vanity accessories. The case with nickelled locks and catches with keys and maker's branding. The lift-out vanity panel fitted with mainly sterling silver accessories with monogram 'SW' and by H. Greaves, Birmingham, hallmarked 1913.
There is a pocket hip flask, the upper portion of the glass flask ornamented in leather (simulated crocodile skin) with level viewing windows cut into both sides, with domed hinged lid with screw bayonet fitting and retains the original push fit drinking cup, hallmarked Sheffield 1912. Other contents including five glass jars of assorted sizes, clothes and shoe brushes, manicure set (metal tools missing), comb, shoe horn with button hook and folding mirror.

H. Greaves, 35 & 36 New Street Birmingham, later H. Greaves Ltd., est 1720 - by her majesty's Royal authority. Expect heavy, cast-metal fittings. Locks may be marked 'Secure lever' and 'Greaves Ltd. Birmingham'. Not as widely renowned as such makers as John Pound, Finnigans or Drew & Sons, but consistently produced luggage of excellent and enduring quality.
