Vintage Golf Figure Of Harry Vardon.
A wonderfully sculpted figure of the Champion Golfer Harry Vardon by Hal Ludlow. This statue is made of plaster and has been given a painted finish to look like bronze. The base is marked with "Harry Vardon" on the front, "REG. 427265 Feb 1904" on the rear and "Hal Ludlow 1904" on the top rear corner.

Henry Stephen Ludlow (Hal) was born in 1861. He studied at Heatherleys and Highgate Art Colleges. He became a portrait painter and illustrator for the Illustrated London News, Sketch Magazine etc. Hal Ludlow was also a fine golfer, he won the 1904 Welsh Native Amateur Championship.

Harry Vardon 1870-1937 was a champion golfer and member of the Great Triumvirate of the sport, together with J.H.Taylor and James Braid. During his career, Harry Vardon won 62 golf tournaments. He also was a a golf course architect.
