32 Piece Bone Barleycorn Chess Set.
Antique turned and carved bone chess set in the barleycorn design popular in the early to mid 19th century. The chess set is displayed under a glass dome but does have its original mahogany box with sliding lid. One side is natural bone and the opposition are dyed red. The King is 4 ¼ inches high and the pawns are 1 ½ inches high. It is in very good condition with no visible damage to the pieces. The pieces with screw in circular bases, the king with Imperial Crown and Maltese cross finials, bishops with open mitres, knights with well carved horses heads and rooks (castles) with turreted towers and flag finials. One of the white rooks is a replacement and does not have a flag, otherwise the 32 piece set is in great original condition.
