A great looking antique antler handle corkscrew with silver mounts. This great looking direct pull corkscrew is hallmarked Chester 1899, WJM & Co.
W.J. Myatt & Co. were established in 1898 as manufacturing silversmiths and electro-platers - becoming W.J. Myatt & Co. Ltd. in 1899. Although based in Birmingham (at which point they were working from Caroline Street) they were initially registered at the Chester Assay Office. Later, in 1900 they subsequently registered with the Birmingham Assay Office (by this time occupying their silverworks at Graham Street and Frederick Street).
