Antique Silver Plated Hip Flask, Large

Antique Silver Plated Hip Flask, Large

Sold

Large Gentleman's Silver Plated Hip Flask By James Dixon.
A silver-plated spirit hip flask made by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield. The good large hip flask holds 1 pint and has a screw lid and retains the original push fit drinking cup (height 9 cm / 3½ inches), marked James Dixon & Sons. On the bottom can be found 'James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1385' with their trade mark of a "Trumpet and Banner". The JD & S is the mark of James Dixon & Sons and the "Trumpet and Banner" mark identifies without doubt it is a Dixon's product. The use of the trumpet is to prevent mistakes with the marks "JD & S" used by another Sheffield manufacturer, James Deakin & Sons.
