Medical Height Measuring Stick, Arnold & Sons.
Late 19th century mahogany measuring stick in good original condition. The upright measure is made of fruitwood and is marked in feet and inches (total height 6 foot 6 inches), the mahogany horizontal bar is inset with a brass and glass spirit level. Both pieces are marked Arnold & Sons of West Smithfield, London.
Arnold & Sons were sellers and manufactures of surgical instruments, based at West Smithfield, London. In their illustrated catalogue in 1873 they were listed as instrument makers by appointment to Her Majesty's Government, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, The Great Northern Hospital, The Royal Veterinary College and The Seamen's Hospital.
