Bronzed Cavalier Lamp.
A wonderful French bronzed spelter sculpture of a Cavalier. The figure is mounted on a circular plinth with a brass plaque mounted on the front with title and artist on it 'Don Cesar' Par Poitevin. An attractive table lamp with original glass frosted shade.
The artist of this piece is Philippe Poitevin 1831-1907.
Similar figures of 'Don Cesar' were manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Company in the 1880's or 1890's, they also produced 'Don Juan'. The figures were made to stand on their clocks either as a pair or on their own. They were also sold with out the clocks as sidepieces.
