'MATTERHORN', a modern framed and mounted black and white photograph after an original 1930's skiing photograph. The frame is black with burgundy undercoat, the glazing is clarity+ premium synthetic glass. Black & white alpine photos are the perfect addition to any home or ski lodge, so please do check out our other ski photos and winter landscapes.
Prior to being a recreational activity skiing was purely a means of travelling from A to B through the snow, it only started to become the sport it is today in the mid-1800's.

The majestic Matterhorn, one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe standing at 4,478 metres. Its near symmetrical pyramid shape make it one of the most recognisable mountains in the world. It is Switzerland's most famous landmark and is probably the most-photographed mountain in the world. On the 14th July 1865, Edward Whymper and his team (Douglas R. Hadow, Charles Hudson, Francis Douglas, Michel-Auguste Croz, Peter Taugwalder senior, Peter Taugwalder junior) completed the first ascent of the Matterhorn after others had made several unsuccessful attempts. The Matterhorn is a mountain of the Alps and is at the border of the western Swiss canton of Valais between Zermatt and the Italian resort of Breuil-Cervinia.

The photographs are also available mounted but unframed, priced at £49.
