Wooden Curling Stone Carry Box

Wooden Curling Stone Carry Box

Sold

Wooden Curling Stone Carry Case.
A rare and unusual late 19th century, early 20th century wooden carry case for a single curling stone. The box will take a stone 28 cm in diameter by 13 cm deep, the handle will need to be carried separately. Possible unique and made for a private individual, may be by a local carpenter as it it a good solid construction and not a DIY job. There is a name painted on the inside of the lid 'R. Axster, Callander', also some painting on the outside of the lid 'R. L. C.C.'. There is some surface wear and the outer varnish now has a crackling to the original finish which has left a beautiful patina. It has a single cast iron carry handle to the top with a padlock latch to the front. A great piece to add to a collection.

The Curling stone is not included in the price and is sold separately, stock #29008 - £450.
