Rabbiting Print, Now Look Out by Cecil Aldin
A rare hunting print depicting the traditional practice of rabbiting, by the renowned sporting artist Cecil Aldin. This charming lithograph illustrates the activity of rabbiting, or bolting rabbits, a method of hunting that historically relied on working terriers or ferrets. The animals were sent into a rabbit warren to flush the rabbits from their burrows, where they could be caught in nets placed over the bolt holes.
In this delightful winter scene, a gentleman is shown approaching a net-covered rabbit bolthole while carrying a ferret and accompanied by two terriers. The snow-covered landscape adds considerable charm and atmosphere to the composition, which is titled Now Look Out. Framed in a glazed period oak frame with line washed mount.
