Set Of Hunting, Shooting & Fishing Lithographs By Cecil Aldin.
A wonderful set of three original chromolithograph prints by Cecil Aldin titled 'THE FIRST', 'IN THE OPEN' and 'A LIKELY SPOT'. The 'Shooting', 'Hunting' and 'Fishing' pictures are in original shaped oak faced plywood frames with applied bas-relief plaster decorations, titles and original glass. The applied decorations comprise of a riding drop, saddle and helmet, shot guns, cartridge bags, fishing rods with reels and creels. The frames have been restored, backs re-papered, one retains original paper trade label for Elands' Art Gallery, Exeter.
The scenes can also be seen in the book of Aldin's called 'A Sporting Garland' (published in 1902 by Sands & Co). The book was in 3 sections, one each on fox-hunting, shooting and fishing. Each section had its own main illustration that was separately published as a large chromolithograph print.
