Fishing Oil Paintings - "The Old Scottish Angler"
A wonderful pair of fishing oil paintings depicting an old Scottish gentleman. The paintings are on relined canvas; one is signed C. Hopkins, and both are housed in gilt frames.
The first painting depicts the old gentleman examining his fishing flies. His fly wallet lies open on his lap, a wicker creel rests on his knee, and his attention is focused on the fishing fly he holds delicately between his fingers.
The second oil painting shows the same gentleman on the riverbank with his catch. A split cane fishing rod rests on his shoulder as he weighs a fish using brass scales.
Little is known of Hopkins but these are accomplished works worthy of a well recorded hand.

Together, these form a wonderful and characterful pair of fishing oil paintings.
