Vintage Snaffles WWI Military Print, Le 75.
A good Snaffles WWI military print 'Le 75', the main center colour-piece hand coloured lithograph is mounted onto the printed remarque board. The lithograph shows a French artillery man firing a 75 mm field gun. At the opening of World War I the French Army had about 4,000 of these 75mm field guns in service, this had increased to about 12,000 by the end of the war. In the top left hand corner margin is a remarque of an observer up a tree looking through some binoculars. This Charles "Snaffles" Johnson Payne (1884 1967) picture is in excellent original condition and framed in a black frame with the Snaffles blindstamp (a bridle bit) in the bottom left hand corner.
