Vintage Snaffles Hunting Print - The Informers
An original colour artist's proof photolithograph by Charles "Snaffles" Johnson Payne (1884-1967), entitled The Informers. The main image depicts two donkeys watching as a fox trots past, a classic example of Snaffles' humour and keen observation of country life.
In addition, there is a charming remarque in the bottom left-hand corner titled The Moon Lighter, showing a fox perched atop a stone wall, eyeing a farmyard in the distance.

The print is presented in a modern oak frame and is in good overall condition. It bears the Snaffles blindstamp (a bridle bit) in the bottom right-hand corner, confirming its authenticity, and is signed in pencil by the artist.
Snaffles is celebrated for blending wit with sharp visual storytelling, often incorporating humorous captions and remarques into his work, and The Informers is regarded as one of his most sought-after subjects.
