Antique Vienna Bronze, Roe Deer.
A Vienna Bronze sculpture of exceptional high quality. The Austrian cold painted bronze is of a free standing roe deer. The deer is stamped underneath the stomach with the Bergman vase stamp, serial or model number 6045 and 'Gesch' or Patent. Franz Bergmann (1861-1936) is one of the most famous of the Vienna cold painted bronze artists. His bronze subjects was wide ranging and included birds, animals, carpet sellers, erotic semi-naked females and reptiles amongst others. One thing his bronzes had in common were that they were all of the highest quality.
