James Howell & Co. Croquet Set.
A quality garden croquet set, complete with its original pine storage box and a fine selection of traditional playing equipment. Retailed by the Cardiff department store James Howell & Co. Ltd. the set includes four Lignum vitae croquet mallets, each with alignment lines and octagonal ash handles designed to help players feel the alignment of the mallet during play. The mallet faces are scored with concentric rings to assist with stop shots and follow-through roll shots.
Also included are four wooden balls in the standard croquet colours, six bent metal hoops, a metal hoop gauge, two winning posts and a wooden mallet.
The inside of the pine box lid is stencilled "James Howell & Co. Ltd. Cardiff", adding an appealing touch of provenance to the set.
A wonderful vintage croquet set, ready to grace any lawn and provide hours of traditional garden entertainment.
Dimensions: The measurements shown are for the pine storage box. The croquet mallets measure approximately 96 cm in length.

Good usable condition. mallets in good condition with few chips. The balls do have cracks in them.
