Vintage Croquet Set In Pine Box.
A four mallet croquet set on a mahogany stand and with a polished pine box. Three of the mallets are stamped 'A & N.C.S.L', which stands for Army and Navy Co-Op Society Ltd, and the forth is stamped 'THE PEEL' JAQUES- LONDON. All four of the boxwood croquet mallets have ebony guide lines on the top of the mallet heads with octagonal ash handles with cord grip (which also help a player 'feel' the alignment of the mallet in play). The Jaques mallet has a flat bottom. To complete the set there are four balls in the standard croquet colours, six bent metal hoops, one post (with coloured bands; the colour sequence indicating the order of play) and four sprung hoop clips to show a player's progress in the game.
The set comes with a vintage 'Schotten' mahogany stand. The stand makes it easier to transport the set out to the lawn, but also looks very attractive standing in the hall.
