Set of Hunting Prints, The Hunting Countries Of England By Cecil Aldin.
A set of small sized limited edition, mounted and framed "Hunting Countries" lithographs after Cecil Aldin. Each print signed in pencil by the artist, limited to three hundred numbered copies, of which these are numbered 53. These prints were published by Richard Wyman & Co.,Ltd. 16 Bedford Street, Strand, London, W.C. On the backs of the fox hunting prints there is the original paper label with title and edition number. The six 'Hunting Countries Of England' in this set are '1) THE CHESHIRE: Away from Peckforton Wood, 2) THE CHESHIRE:Away from Bath Wood, 3) THE PYTCHLEY: Gone away from Badby Wood, 4) THE PYTCHLEY: Full cry from Loatland Wood, 5) THE WARWICKSHIRE: Away from Watergall & 6)THE WARWICKSHIRE: Gone away from Oxhill.
Aldin was invited to stay with most of the leading foxhunters of the day and spent days sketching from the saddle. He noted landmarks and the characteristics of members of the field, so that each rider was recognisable. Particular attention was paid to the huntsman, the Master and any prominent followers. Some of the well known hunts Aldin went out with are The Quorn, Cottesmore, Pytchley, Belvoir, Duke of Beaufort's, Devon & Somerset and Warwickshire.

The prints have been removed from the original frames which have then been cleaned and waxed. They have then been put back together.
