A rare Polo match pastel by the French artist Pierre-Georges Jeanniott (1848-1934). The pastel is framed in a modern frame with glazing. Written on the back in pencil "Pierre Georges Jeanniott, Paris c1880 - 1920. N865. See entry in Benezit Ex the Studio sale of the artist. The artist also engraved a number of etchings of Polo subjects and his work has much in the styles of both T. Lautrec and J.J. Tissot about it". Although an unfinished piece the drama of the match is beginning to come through.
