Horse Racing Print 'October Meeting' By Sir Alfred Munnings
Vintage Newmarket Races Print, October Meeting, Sir Alfred Munnings.
A very impressive horse racing photolithograph of 'October Meeting' after a painting by Sir Alfred Munnings. K.C.V.O. P.P.R.A. The equestrian print is signed in pencil in the margin by Munnings and was published in 1957 by Frost & Reed, it has a Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp. The print is framed in original oak frame with mount. The painting depicts an impending horse race with five jockeys and their mounts lined up, the figures seen in the distance are the starter and his assistants. Munnings was fascinated by the racehorse and was a great racegoer himself and was regarded as the 20th century equivalent to the 18th century's George Stubbs and one of Britain's greatest equestrian artists.
