Oil On Canvas Of A Salmon, John B. Russel.

Written on the back of the frame "Tweed (Rutherford Beat) John Russel". On the canvas stretcher is a number which appears to read '5505', see images. The sporting oil painting is a study is of a salmon and trout on the river bank with a large hip flask, landscape setting in the background. The fish are vibrantly represented with intricate detail and life like quality, an outstanding oil painting, unsigned but attributed to John Bucknell Russel who specialised in still life of freshwater fish, particularly salmon and trout.
