Hardy 3⅝" Perfect Trout Fly Reel
A fine Hardy Perfect Trout fly reel featuring a single horn handle, agate line guard, ridged brass foot, rim tension screw, and check mechanism. The revolving front plate is stamped: "Made by Hardy Bros. Ltd., Alnwick, England, size 3⅝". The "PERFECT" Fly Reel, Pat Nos. 24245 & 9261, Duplicated Mark II.
A highly usable example retaining most of its original finish and presenting very well throughout.
There are some product information images taken from old Hardy catalogues. The "Perfect" reel is made of "Alumin" in three solid parts (the line drum, frame and revolving plate). They are fitted with ball-bearings and are almost frictionless. The check work is our Patent Compensating design, which may be regulated to brake fish, or when desired "striking" can be done direct from the reel, the tension being increased or decreased at the pleasure of the user according to the fineness of the tackle. The great advantage of the regulator is that, when properly adjusted, breakages, through too hard striking, do not occur.
