Golf Cartoon Print Titled "The Amenities of Golf".
This image is a charming and humorous vintage golf cartoon drawn by J.H. Thorpe, a well-known illustrator whose work often appeared in satirical publications like Punch. Nicely framed and mounted, the artwork depicts a golfer in the foreground, about to play his ball, while a group of four gentlemen dressed in traditional Edwardian golf attire (plus fours, jackets, caps) stands behind, seemingly waiting. One of the men is puffing on a pipe the other a cigarette, two gentlemen are carrying clubs - but are mistakenly assumed to be players rather than caddies. There is a witty dialogue at the bottom: "I say, you'll have to let us through. We've got Caddies". "Oh, they're caddies, are they? I thought you were a Foursome". The Amenities of Golf. This is a classic example of British dry humour, poking fun at golfing etiquette and the confusion around who is a player and who is a caddie - especially when all are similarly dressed and standing idly about. Print details: Copyright - by permission of 'PUNCH'. Published by S. Hildesheimer & Co. Ltd., Drawn by J.H. Thorpe, Printed in England No. 1818.

This kind of framed print would be ideal for a clubhouse, study, or golf-themed collection - especially if paired with #31462 which is being sold separately.
