SylvaC Black Scottie Dog Point Of Sale Advert For Golf Balls.
The countertop North British Rubber Co. Scottie dog would have been a display piece in a pro shop advertising 'North British' golf balls and used to encourage the golfer to use their balls. The Scottie dog has a tartan collar and is holding a golf ball in its mouth - the ball still retains much of "North British" stamp mark. The base impressed with Reg. No 778504 and Production No. 1209. Made by SylvaC (with a deliberate capital C at the end) for North British Rubber Co. of Edinburgh. North British Rubber Co., Ltd. took over another golf ball manufacture, Hutchison Main & Co., in 1912.
A great collectable for the golfer or Scottie dog enthusiast.
SylvaC is a brand of British ornamental pottery known primarily for its figurines of animals and Toby Jugs. Central to the SylvaC line throughout its history were figurines of animals, and rabbits in particular, dogs were also popular with virtually every breed ending up being characterised in pottery.
The golf balls in the photos are not sold with the Scottie dog.
