Royal Doulton Kingsware Whisky Flagon With Golf Scene
Royal Doulton Golfing Whisky Jar.
A fine Royal Doulton earthenware whisky flask decanter decorated with a Kingsware pattern golfing scene in bas-relief after the cartoonist and illustrator Charles Crombie. The jar is striking in a rich dark treacle colour with nice clean glazing, the Royal Doulton trade mark logo is on the base with a crown surmounted by a lion. Complete with engraved hallmarked silver topped cork stopper on chain, engraved 'C M Whiston - Banchory Golf Club - Spring meeting - 1921'.
These jars were typically made between 1901 and 1930. This is a very nice piece for either the Royal Doulton collector or golf collector.
Charles 'Chas' Crombie (1885 - 1967) was an illustrator whose work is well known to the collector. His pictures can be found in many forms, on postcards, calendars, in books and on Royal Doulton ceramics.
