Robert Forgan Of St Andrews Long Nose Golf Club
Scared Head Forgan Long Nose Golf Club.
An elegant scared head long nose play club by Robert Forgan of St Andrews. This great looking club is also known as a long spoon and has a curved face, lead weight to the rear and the traditional horn slip along the leading edge of the sole, the polished fruitwood head is stamped 'R. Forgan' above the Prince of Wales plume of three feathers. The original hickory shaft with a period sheep skin leather grip. Robert Forgan became clubmaker to HRH Prince of Wales in 1863 and used the prince's plume of three feathers as his mark until 1901, when upon the Prince became King Edward his mark changed to the 'King's Crown'.
This is a very nice example of a scared head golf club from the 1870's in excellent condition.
