Aluminium Center Shafted Schenectady Putter.
A good example of an aluminium Schenectady putter by Spalding. The club head with diamond face markings, the crown is stamped 'A.G. Spalding & Bros., Made In Gt. Britain' in a circle with the Spalding trade mark and the words 'American Putter, Schenectady'. The club is in good original condition, with hickory shaft and sheep skin grip. The head and shaft in good original condition.
A great collectable and usable putter.
The original Schenectady putter was patented by Arthur Knight in 1903 of Schenectady, New York. The putter has become one of the most historic of all clubs after Walter Travis defeated Edward Blackwell to become not only the first American to win the British Amateur, but also the first person outside the UK.
