Shooting Triptych By Douglas Adams.
A nice set of three shooting photogravures by Douglas Adams. A single original oak frame with a triple aperture mount with shooting scenes. The three photogravures are signed by the artist (Douglas Adams) and engraver, Charles Whymper. Two of the pictures are landscape in orientation whilst the central one is portrait. A great collective set of shooting pictures.
The sizes shown are for the mount size and the whole frame. The two landscape images measure 17 cm high by 25 cm wide whilst the portrait measures 26½ cm high by 18 cm wide.
Charles Whymper (1853 - 1941) was the son of J. W. Whymper and exhibited from 1870. He was an English painter of landscapes, animal genre and angling subjects. He has also done illustrations for books on travel, sport and natural history, and published Egyptian Birds as well as several papers on the Pheasantry of England.
