Unusual Antique Leather Gladstone Bag.
A beautiful leather Gladstone bag of unusual design with separate suitcase compartment. The vintage holdall is stamped 'Hill Maker Newmarket' on the edge of the bag and 'H.W. Hill Newmarket' on the leather tongue by the lock. On the suitcase front is embossed 'A.B. Gooth, Castle Hill, Huntingdon'. The leather traveller's kit bag with brown leather, a square mouth 'Gladstone' bag with cloth interior and a suitcase bottom. The bag is fitted with sliding brass lock clips at both ends with and a central push button brass lock, eight studded feet and two central carry handles.

Gladstone bags are named after the 19th cent British Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone; the bags are usually constructed of leather fitted over a metal frame.
