Antique Tennis Racket, Bussey Wavy Wedge
George Bussey Lawn Tennis Racket.
A fine example of a lawn tennis racket by Bussey, 'The Alert'. A nice 'Extra Light' ash frame with chamfer and Bussey's concave, wavy wedge. The wedge is embossed in gilt 'Alert' with the Bussey logo 'G.B&Co.London' at the top of the handle. The racket has the original red shoulder wrapping, two central double main strings, red vertical gut strings, white horizontal strings and three rows of black trebling to the top and one to the bottom. Handle stamped 13 on one side 0,5 on the other with original leather butt cap.
George Bussey was a large London manufacturer of high quality equipment for sports and games.
